1972, Gatty

'Vamp' (Joseph Gatty, R. 1971). Seedling #17R. IB, Height 24" (61 cm). Early to late bloom. Standards deep reddish purple (M&P 48-J-4); falls blended red-purple (44-L-9), overlaid tan on edge, deeper(56-L-12) spot; blue-purple beard tipped bronze. 'Dainty Royal' X 'Martel'. Keppel 1972. Pod fertile. Judges' Choice 1973; Honorable Mention 1973; Award of Merit 1975; Sass Medal 1977.

From AIS Bulletin #205 April 1972 Introducing VAMP (Gatty) Intermediate. 24" Dainty Royal X Martel. A real charmer done in rich burgundy tones with lighter falls and a maroon fall spot. Beard violet, tipped bronze. Lightly ruffled, with semi-flaring falls. Extremely vigorous and floriferous. EC and HC '7. $7.50. Keith Keppel.
