From Mid-America Garden catalog, 2006: QUARTER - IB, 25" (63 cm), Midseason. Quarter has a divergence of colors that is difficult to describe. They are tones and hues not usually seen in irises and are probably the product of the unusual mixed chromosome parentage. Standards are darker red in centers blending to vibrant claret tones. Midribs are dark charcoal plum with a network of fine dark veins spreading outward. Medium rose-claret falls are finely veined dark blue. The white butterfly pattern on the hafts is overlaid with dark red veins. Beards have old gold throats with blue ends frosted lightly white and provide a unique contrast to other colors. Fertility hasn't been tried. If it is fertile, it should make for a novel parent. Quarter has rugged growth and plenty of bloom. Sdlg.!K336B: Spree X (Sinister Desire x Delicate Image sib). $22.50
