From Chevy Chase Iris Garden, Marion Shull catalog, 1926: MAORI PRINCESS (Shull 1923) — Richest colored of all variegatas, deeper than Marsh Marigold and much larger and taller than Maori King, one of its parents. Standards Empire Yellow. Falls Burnt Lake richly bordered with Empire Yellow. Aristocratic form. Height 27 to 30 inches. $5.00.
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: MAORI PRINCESS (Shull). S. deep strontian-yellow; F. broad, velvety red-brown, margined yellow and veined red-brown on a yellow base. Deep orange beard. Fairly large bloom of very good shape and substance. In Iris King class but better than Iris King. Height, 27 inches. $4.00.
