From Glen Road Iris Garden catalog, 1920: MAGNATE. The standards are Light Ageratum Violet, the edges so fluted as to show the center of the bloom; the falls are velvety Mathews Purple (a crimson tone) and the growth is strong and heavy, 30 in. F.C.C.(MHS) 1915. 3.00.
"Standards blue; falls lavender violet. Large flowers on sturdy stalks twenty-four inches high." Longfield Iris Farm catalog 1925.
