(IB) 'King Junior'

1933, Sass

'King Junior' (Hans Peter Sass-selected by Horace M. Hill, R. 1933) IB. 26". Midseason bloom and rebloom. Color Class-B3D. 'Autumn King' x unknown. Introduced by Hill Iris and Peony Farm 1933. Syn: Autumn King Junior.

Wassenberg (1934) described it as an improved 'Autumn King'. National's (1938) description stated that it was similar to 'Autumn King' but a much more dependable twice-bloomer. Interestingly, Hill Iris and Peony Farm only carried 'King Junior' in its introductory year of 1933 based on their catalog listings. Chas. F. Wassenberg listed this as "Autumn King Junior" or "Autumn King, Jr." from 1934 through at least 1959.

Nurseries: Hill 1933 ($15), Bommersbach 1942 (.15¢), Wassenberg 1934 ($10), National 1938 (.75¢), Tip-Top 1941 (.20¢), Kellogg 1937 ($1), Cottam 1957 (.50¢)

From the 2022 Rebloom Checklist: Rebloom reported in: unrecorded. USDA Zones
