'Illyrica' (Mutius von Tommasini, 1875, IB. Color Class-B3M.

Note: Lago di Garda to N.E. shores of the Adriatic). Dark blue self. Dykes noticed that this represents a series of plants that grade into each other; with 'Cengialtii' in the north to 'Illyrica' in the south. He notes 'Illyrica' is slightly taller, more variable in color than 'Cengialti' including dark blue and with variable beards from yellow and white to an unusual dark purple. 2n=24 counted by Lovka, 1995. As Iris illyrica Tommas. In Veg. Veglia in Cubich, Nat. e storia Veglia 63, 81. 1875. [Recognised by some as a separate species, Mathew considers this as a synonym or form of Iris pallida Lam. subsp. cengialti].
