Garden Description; Set in the mixed mesophytic forests of the Piedmont on rolling rocky terrain. Carved out garden rooms with partial sun and hundreds of various perennial plants provide a home for all classifications of Irises. Most notable for 50+ cvs. of Miniature Dwarf Irises, 50+ Iris species. Garden is a relatively new garden 5 years. Most areas are still under development. Because of extremely poor soil and invasive tree roots over 2,000 Iris and other perennials are grown in 3-5 gallon pots.

Best time: Although the garden attempts to have irises in bloom every month of the year spring is obviously the best show. Miniature Dwarf Irises have become relatively rare and this garden specializes in this group and is actively studying them and hybridizing.

Added information: This is a private residence and does not have toilet facilities for large groups. Terrain is rough and not very handicap accessible. Some paths are of limited width. Dogs and small children may find running about discouraged.
