'Maynard' (Beebee Knopf, R. 1968). Seedling #66-59. BB, 24" (61 cm), Very late bloom season. Brown-black with green overlay; brown beard. 'Congo Song' X ('Bang' x 'Glittering Gold'). Knopf-Top o' The Ridge 1969. Honorable Mention 1970, Judges' Choice 1971, Award of Merit 1974.

From Alan Harper’s Top O’ The Ridge catalog, 1971: MAYNARD (M. Knopf 1969) BB 24" ML O5DD CONGO SONG X (BANG X GLITTERING GOLD). Named by Mrs. Knopf for her late husband, this Border is an absolutely new color in Iris - a brown-black with green overlay. Well proportioned with pronounced fluting of both standards and falls. If you liked Jungle Shadows you'll love this one. $10.00
