1983, Burch

'Kirsch' (James Burch, R. 1983). Seedling #38-18. BB, 23" (58 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards red (RHS 184); falls red (187C) overlaid blackish red (187A); orange (163B) beard. Steinhauer seedling #7301 X 'Dark Ritual'. Burch Iris 1984. High Commendation 1983; Honorable Mention 1986.

From AIS Bulletin #253 April 1984 Introducing KIRSCH-BB (Steinhauer 7301 X Oark Ritual). This border bearded iris is quite appropriately named in that the beauty is reddish purple. Its falls and standards are ruffled. Standards are 1840 and falls are 187C overlaid with 187A, black-red. This magnetic red iris is consistently 23" in height here in Alabama. HC 1983. $20.00 Net. Burch Iris Garden.
