(BB) 'Hood River Skies'

1966, Wells

'Hood River Skies' ( C. A. Wells by Chet Tompkins). Seedling #W5-60. 18" (46 cm), Midseason bloom. Light blue self. 'Chivalry' X Wells blue seedling. Fleur de Lis 1966.

HOOD RIVER SKIES (C. Wells '66) E.M. 18 in. (Chivalry x Blue sdlg.). Here is a most fascinating new Border iris. A good grower with nearly normal size rhizomes and stalks as well as wide, full foliage. For all of this the flowers are very small. Almost like miniature blooms of Chivalry. Exotically strange and different, its as if the whole thing might be the result of a complete mutation in an otherwise normal plant. I had thought it sterile, but last year it podded and produced some pollen. #W. 5-60. Net 15.00. [Fleur De Lis Gardens, Canby, Oregon, Catalog, 1966]
