1975, Foster

'Spiced Wine' OGB+ (Doris Foster, R, 1975). Seedling 72-10-10. AB, 29" (74 cm), Early midseason bloom. Standards light blue violet, veined rose; rose red styles; Falls grayed lavender, veined and dotted rose maroon; V-shaped dark maroon signal; old gold beard tipped gray. Seedling AB-32: ( I. gatesii x I. susiana ) X 'Shalom'. Foster 1975. Honorable Mention 1978.

From Foster Iris catalog, 1975: SPICED WINE (Foster) E-M. 29". Beautifully formed exotic flower in Wisteria Blue patterned Maroon Red. Domed and overlapped standards are Wisteria Blue RHS 640/2 veined Rose-Maroon. Smoothly recurved falls are greyed Wisteria Blue thickly dotted Maroon overall. The long V-shaped signal is deeper Maroon - the beard is gold tipped grey. #72-10-10. (I. susiana. XI. gates11) X Shalom. $20
