From R. Wallace Co. catalog, 1922: SHIRAZ (Iberica x Pallida). Large flowers of remarkable appearance, bright purple blue standards and bronze purple falls much veined; vigorous. 5/- each.
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: SHIRAZ AB (Sir Michael Foster, BRS). Seedling # NIA. TMB, tall, bloom season NIA. I iberica X I pallida. AIS Color Class: S9 (red squalens with bitone pattern). '76 CL: Red blend. Court of Iris: "The standards are soft light blue violet while the falls are off-white with heavy veining of deep violet with a suggestion of a signal patch." Vallette: "dark blue bitone."
