'Ode To Kalifa' OGB- (Walter Moores, R. 1978). Seedling 73-9. AB (1/4), 16" (41 cm). Very early bloom. Standards pale blue, flecked olive and dark blue; Falls olive, flecked dark blue; burnt orange beard tipped white. 'Kalifa Hirfa' X 'Brighteyes'. Moores, 1980. Honorable Mention 1982.

From AIS Bulletin #237 April 1980 Introducing ODE TO KALIFA-16" VE, Standards are pale blue flecked olive and dark blue. Falls are olive flecked blue and wine. Burnt orange beards are tipped white. The three to four buds with one branch open with the earliest dwarfs. Kalifa Hirfa X Bright Eyes. $7.50. Walter Moores.
This iris was thought to be lost, but it was found growing in Lawrence Ransom's garden in France. He returned stock to the US and is now in good distribution. -- WalterMoores - 16 Jan 2010
