'Molasses' OB- (Clarence G.White-Lena Lothrop, R. 1944). TMB, (TB-onco), tall. Midseason bloom. Medium red yellow blend. (('Theme' x 'Sacramento') x ('Pink Jadu' x I. susiana )) X (('Dauntless' x 'Mirasol') x I. hauranensis ). No information on introduction found in AIS checklists.

From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: MOLASSES (White-Lothrop '44) M 33' ((Theme X Sacramento) X (Pink Jadu X Susiana) x (Dauntless X Mirasol) X (hauransis).) The quite involved pedigree reveals two oncocyclus species in the makeup of this quite red Onco-bred - susiana and hauranensis. The soft bronze-red standards are closed over velvety flaring falls of a rich dark scarlet. The pollen is plentiful generally and it will set seed. $2.00.
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: MOLASSES AB (White-Lothrop, R. 1944 ). Seedling # NIA. TMB, tall, M. ((Theme x Sacramento) x (Pink Jadu x I susiana)) X ((Dauntless Mirasol) x I. hauranensis). AIS Color Class: S4M (medium yellow-toned squalens). No description in the '76 Checklist. Court of Iris: "Soft bronze-red standards are closed over velvety flaring falls of a rich, dark scarlet." Valette: "bronzy-red self, darker F." No information on introduction found in AIS Checklists. Notes: An OB- in both systems; Mathew defines I. hauranensis as a synonym of I atrofusca. Ref: AIS '49, p. 167; ASI '76, p. 58; Valette, p.178.
