From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: MOHRLOFF (Schirmer '49) M (Ormohr X Orloff). Although this Iris is but one eighth Onco, it has quite an Onco look which is further accented by the plicata blood from the pollen parent. The flowers have a white ground heavily marked in an all over pattern of lavender. Almost universally reported as fertile both ways. We can go so far as to say that its pollen was potent on almost anything we used it with-both tall bearded and Onco-bred. $1.00
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: MOHRLOFF Disenrolled. (Carl Schirmer, R. 1945). Seedling #NIA.TB, tall, M. Ormohr X Orloff. AIS Color Class: (white ground with dark blue feathering). '76 CL: White with dark blue pattern. Court of Iris: "A 'fancy-plicata' of light blue-lavender." Rainbow: Peppered markings of lavender sprinkled over a white ground. Beard white, tipped yellow. Vallette: "heavily marked blue-on-white plicata." No information on introduction found in AIS Checklists. Notes: Accepted by the '76 committee although less than ¼ aril by the quantum system; chromosome count would be required to determine whether it's an OB- arilbred under the chromosome-set system. Ref: AIS '49, p. 167; ASI '76, p. 57; Vallette, p. 191.
