2019-09-17 - AB Domingo is a beautiful arilbred iris when growing in the Portland, Oregon area. Offered by Mid-America Gardens in the early 2010's, this iris typically shows its increase in October here, a few weeks into our autumn and winter rains. Plant does not grow much in the winter, but takes off in March. Still, the stems are taller and flowers unexpectedly larger than the early, new springtime foliage suggests. Benefits in our wetter climate from having protection from overhead rains in the winter, up until the flowers are a couple weeks from opening mid-April, early May. Readily sets pods when crossed with different tall bearded iris, other AB iris, and the unusual arilbred "Anacrusis". -- Main.tedhavelka - 18 Sep 2019 |
