'Brash And Bold' (Paul Black, R. 2009). Seedling #M123AA. AB, Oncogeliabred minus. 26" (66 cm), Early to midseason bloom. Standards smoky medium orchid, fine bronze veins from base; style arms golden ochre; Falls gold base washed rust auburn, gold around beard mottled and dotted rust auburn, slight brown spot at end of old gold beard; lightly ruffled. 'Sheik' X 'Amusing'. Mid-America 2009. Honorable Mention 2011; Award of Merit 2014; Mohr Medal 2016.

From Mid-America Garden catalog, 2009: BRASH AND BOLD (Black 09) AB (OGB-) Early-Midseason 26” (66cm). Smoky orchid standards blend upward to violet and are overlaid with a network of fine bronze veins. Falls are washed rust auburn below beards to old gold edges. Area around burning rust orange beards is sanded and marbled dark brown as well as dart at end of beards. Vivid gold styles add bold contrast. Easy, healthy growth. Stalks with 2 branches have 4-5 buds. Sdlg. M123AA: Sheik X Amusing. $25.00.
