This is a hybrid between Iris paradoxa and Iris Swertii, one of the Pogoniris section, and was raised by Messrs. Dammann & Co., of San Giovanni ft Teduccio, Naples, from whom I received the plant last summer. It is of dwarfer habit than I. paravar, and is less pleasing in its colouring. Like that hybrid, it owes much of its colouring to I. paradoxa, but it has more brown on the falls than paravar. It was grown alongside I. paravar, and seems, although dwarf, to be of good habit, and likely to be a free grower. S. Arnott, Carsethorn, by Dumfries, N.B. |
